History

Founded in 1984 as a mixed multi-crop farm in Montepulciano.

Michele Manelli, from a background in economic policy and international taxation, discovered Montepulciano in 1994 and in 1997 purchased the historic Salco vineyard, reorienting the estate wholly to Vino Nobile.

Organically farmed since the late 1990s and fully certified organic and biodynamic from 2009.

In 2011 inaugurated what it describes as Italy's first completely off-grid, energy self-sufficient winery, using gravity flow, photovoltaics, geothermal and biomass heating and a green living wall.

Claims to be the first company in the world to certify the carbon footprint of a bottle of wine.
