History
Rocca di Frassinello was born as a joint venture between Paolo Panerai's Castellare di Castellina and Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Chateau Lafite), on 500 hectares Panerai bought between Gavorrano and Roccastrada.
Its cellar, inaugurated on 30 June 2007, is the only winery designed by architect Renzo Piano, evoking a Maremma fortress with its tower.
It also houses the Etruscan museum of Gavorrano, above an excavated necropolis.
