History
Rocca delle Macìe was created in 1973 when Italo Zingarelli — the film producer behind the hugely popular Trinity (Bud Spencer / Terence Hill) series — bought the run-down 93-hectare Le Macìe estate, a medieval farming hamlet on a stony knoll outside Castellina in Chianti, to fulfil a lifelong dream of making wine.
Over the following decades the estate expanded to around 500 hectares across six Tuscan properties, including more than 200 hectares of vineyard. It remains a family business, led today by Italo's son Sergio, who twice served as president of the Chianti Classico Consortium.
The range is anchored in Chianti Classico, including the Riserva and Gran Selezione tiers and the Sangiovese-Cabernet Super Tuscan Roccato.
