History
Piancornello began when the Pieri family's great-grandfather Zefiro fell for Montalcino and bought the Piancornello farm in the 1940s — a rural house from the 1700s with the first Brunello vineyards. For years they grew and sold fruit, until 1991 when they began vinifying and selling their own wine.
After the estate was divided among family branches, Piancornello today is owned and run by Claudio Monaci and Silvia Batazzi.
Set in the warm 'red lands' between Sant'Angelo Scalo and Castelnuovo dell'Abate, the estate farms organically, making Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino.
