History
Pian delle Vigne is the Montalcino estate of Marchesi Antinori, the Florentine wine family whose roots go back to 1385. Antinori acquired it in 1995, the same year as the first harvest of its Brunello.
The estate lies about 6 kilometres south-west of Montalcino and takes its name from the area's distinctive 19th-century railway station.
Across 184 hectares, with 83 planted to vine, it makes Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino aged in large casks to preserve the Sangiovese's elegance.
