History
Máté is a small Brunello estate at Santa Restituta, in the south-west of Montalcino, founded by the writer Ferenc Máté. Born in Hungary, he fled with his mother after the 1956 revolution and grew up in Canada before settling in Tuscany.
With his wife Candace he built a hand-worked vineyard estate, which he described in his popular books about Tuscan life.
The estate makes small quantities of Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino.
