History
In 1996 Rainer Loacker, a South Tyrolean wine producer from the family behind the famous Loacker wafers, fell for Montalcino and bought four hectares around a winery at 500 metres that he named Corte Pavone.
Loacker had been a biodynamic and homeopathic producer in his native Alto Adige since 1979, and applied the same methods here to rebuild the estate's soils.
The vineyards, now 18 hectares of Sangiovese Grosso managed by his son Hayo, are split into six identified terroirs that yield single-vineyard Brunellos.
