History
Le Potazzine was founded in the 1990s by Giuseppe Gorelli and his wife Gigliola Gianetti, and named for their two daughters — 'potazzine' being a dialect word for little birds. Gorelli, an oenology graduate, had made his first Brunello in 1987 under his grandfather's Due Portine-Gorelli label and served for years as technical consultant to the Brunello consortium.
The estate earned high praise as a classically styled Brunello producer.
After Gorelli and Gianetti separated, their daughters took over Le Potazzine with their mother, while Giuseppe went on to his own label; Le Potazzine continues to make Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino.
