History
Le Chiuse came to the Biondi-Santi family in the late 18th century, as part of Maria Tamanti's dowry when she married Clemente Santi. It became one of the family's key holdings — the source of grapes for the Biondi-Santi Brunello Riserva — and Tancredi Biondi-Santi urged his heirs never to sell it.
Simonetta Valiani, granddaughter of Tancredi and great-granddaughter of Ferruccio Biondi Santi, regained full ownership in the 1990s and, with her husband Nicolò Magnelli and son Lorenzo, began bottling under the Le Chiuse label.
The 7-hectare estate on the north-east slope of Montosoli is planted entirely to Sangiovese Grosso, making a classically styled Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino.
