History
The estate's modern history goes back to around 1890, when the Franceschi family of Florence bought the property, then Fattoria di Sant'Angelo in Colle; as early as 1933 it showed its 'Brunelli' at a Siena wine fair.
In 1973 the Cinzano family of Piedmont bought the estate and used their drinks-distribution network to spread its early Brunello. Under Count Alberto and then Francesco Marone Cinzano the vineyards expanded to around 140 hectares, of which about 108 are Brunello.
Col d'Orcia farms organically — the estate says it became Tuscany's largest organic farm in 2010 — and is known for its Brunello, the Riserva, and the single-vineyard Poggio al Vento.
