The Tornatore family has farmed on Etna since 1865; Francesco was the first to graduate, as an engineer in Milan.

From the 1990s he began buying vineyard plots around Castiglione di Sicilia.

He founded the winery in 2012 near his ancestral home, quickly becoming a leading northern-Etna producer.
