History

Tenuta di Fessina was founded in 2007 by the Tuscan producer Silvia Maestrelli with her husband Roberto Silva, who bought an old Nerello Mascalese vineyard on Etna's north-east slope at Rovittello.

At the vineyard's heart stands an 18th-century lava millstone with its 'chianca' press still intact.

Silvia was among the pioneering women producers on the volcano.
