Il Censo

History

Il Censo is a 65-hectare estate at Bivona, near Palazzo Adriano in south-central Sicily, held by the family (the maternal Spoto line) for more than two hundred years.

Long given over to grain, legumes and century-old olives, it was revived as a vineyard by Gaetano Gargano - a Sicilian banker - and his wife Nicoletta, guided by Giampiero Bea of Montefalco.

The natural wines are built on Sicilian natives such as Perricone, Catarratto and Nero d'Avola, on windswept high ground under the Sicani mountains.
