History

Gabrio Bini, a Milanese architect, moved with his wife Geneviève to the volcanic island of Pantelleria in 1995 and spent about ten years studying its vines and traditions before making his first harvest in 2005 under the estate name Serragghia. Working today alongside his son Giotto, he turned a personal experiment into one of natural wine's most coveted names.

The farming is uncompromising: old bush vines on black volcanic soil, ploughed by horse and tended by hand, with grapes fermented spontaneously on native yeasts in terracotta amphorae partially buried in the vineyard — some jars centuries old — where the surrounding earth keeps them cool through the island's heat. The wines see long skin maceration, age in amphora, and are bottled unfined, unfiltered and without added sulfur.

The signature is the Serragghia Zibibbo — a dry, skin-contact amphora wine from Muscat of Alexandria (Zibibbo), Pantelleria's historic grape — alongside small cuvées from Pignatello and Catarratto and a famed 'Fanino'. These are among the most sought-after bottles in natural wine, released as Terre Siciliane IGT rather than under the sweet Pantelleria DOC.
