History
The Guccione family have farmed at Contrada Cerasa, in the Monreale hills, since the 1200s, when the estate was a 500-hectare feudo of crops, animals and some vines. After his father Leoluca had long sold the grapes to small winemakers, Francesco Guccione took the vineyards in hand from 2012.
Converting the land to organic and biodynamic farming, Francesco makes natural wines from the district's native grapes — Catarratto, Trebbiano, Perricone and Nerello Mascalese — across about nine hectares, six of them vineyard, reviving the old winemaking traditions of Monreale.
