History
Curatolo Arini was founded in 1875, when Vito Curatolo turned his country house near Marsala into a winery, naming it with his own surname and his mother's, Arini; it is the oldest Marsala house still run by the founding family, now into its fifth generation.
An early innovator — the first in the area to control fermentation temperature with refrigeration, and commissioner in 1880 of Liberty-style labels from the architect Ernesto Basile — the house makes around two million bottles a year, about half of it Marsala, alongside wines from Sicily's native grapes, with the great majority exported.
