History
The Milazzo family have farmed at Campobello di Licata, between Agrigento, Caltanissetta and Licata, for five generations; the modern winery took shape in the 1970s from twenty hectares in the hills northeast of the town, among the first in Sicily to focus on vinifying the island's native grapes.
Milazzo was a pioneer of Sicilian sparkling wine, making the island's first Classic Method spumante, 'Federico II', in 1974. Today Giuseppina Milazzo, her husband Saverio Lo Leggio and their son Giuseppe run about seventy-five hectares in the Terre della Baronia, certified organic since 2012.
