The Scarfone family have farmed at Faro Superiore for generations, long making wine only for themselves.

Giovanni Scarfone returned to Sicily in 2004 and released his first commercial Bonavita vintage in 2006.

His Faro is a blend of about 60% Nerello Mascalese, 30% Nerello Cappuccio and 10% Nocera, aged in cement.
