History

The abbey of Santa Anastasia, in the Madonie above Castelbuono near Cefalu, was built in the 12th century under Count Roger d'Altavilla, and Benedictine monks made wine there for centuries.

The estate's winemaking was revived in 1980 when the engineer Francesco Lena acquired the roughly 450-hectare property and its vineyards. Farmed on biodynamic principles, it makes native and international wines, best known for the pure Cabernet Sauvignon 'Litra' and the Sicilia Rosso 'Passomaggio'.
