History
In 2010 Felice Merge and his father Armando bought an old property at Erchie, in the northern Salento of the Brindisi province, and turned it into Masca del Tacco, drawn there by a passion for Puglia and its Primitivo. The name recalls Erchie's older winemaking, where a cooperative had been founded in 1949 by the local baron Giuseppe Laviano.
The estate works around two hundred hectares of owned and leased vineyards, many trained as traditional bush vines, and built its reputation on Primitivo di Manduria — above all the flagship 'Lu Rappaio' — alongside a range of Salento reds and whites.
