History

The estate takes its name from a monastery built in the Salice Salentino countryside in the late 15th century by monks following the rule of St Basil; the castle dates to the early 16th century.

In 1865 the Burgundian Perry-Graniger family, driven out by phylloxera, bought it and converted it into a chateau, later building a cellar between 1920 and 1928.

In 1979 the heir Lina married the Salento entrepreneur Vitantonio Seracca Guerrieri, now president, who refocused the estate on native Salento grapes.
