History
Between the 1980s and 1990s the Ostuni DOC came close to disappearing as vine-pull incentives and the shift toward olive groves nearly wiped out its characteristic varieties; Oronzo Greco, with family support, replanted and revived the near-extinct Ottavianello, Impigno and Francavidda grapes near Ostuni.
Today Azienda Agricola Greco is one of only a handful of wineries still bottling both Ostuni Bianco DOC and Ostuni Ottavianello DOC, credited locally with having saved the denomination from disappearing.
