History
The Silvio Grasso estate was founded in 1927 at La Morra. In the mid-1980s Alessio Federico Grasso took over from his father Silvio and began bottling the entire production, and from 1980 the vineyards grew from about 4.5 to some 14 hectares.
Federico built a reputation for refined, modern Barolo that avoids heavy oak, using large barrels and keeping new wood below a third even for single-vineyard wines.
All the estate's Nebbiolo lies within La Morra, including the historic crus of Bricco Luciani and Bricco Manzoni alongside Giachini and Plicotti.
