History
The Marcarino family's vineyards at Neive go back generations; commercial bottling began in 1964 under Renzo Marcarino, and the estate is named Punset — 'beautiful hill' in Piedmontese, after a nickname from the Count of Neive.
In her early twenties Marina Marcarino took over and, in the early 1980s, converted Punset to organic farming — a radical move for the time that made it the first certified organic Barbaresco in Italy; from the 1990s she added biodynamics.
Marina follows the 'agriculture of not doing' of Masanobu Fukuoka, minimising treatments and keeping the vineyards green.
