History
The Musso family has been part of Barbaresco for over 300 years — Giacomo Filippo Musso was the village's first mayor in 1698. In 1929, during the Depression, the 23-year-old Sebastiano Musso founded the small family winery with a 1.5-hectare plot of Nebbiolo at Cavanna.
In 1966 his son Augusto joined and expanded the holdings with plots on the Pora hill and a farm at Rio Sordo.
Now run by three generations — Valter Musso, who joined in the mid-1980s, with his son Emanuele — the estate farms 10 hectares across Pora, Rio Sordo, Ronchi and Cavanna, with Barbaresco at its heart.
