History
The Veglio family's roots go back to the mid-20th century, when the sharecropper Angelo Veglio bought his first vineyard in Gattera, in the Annunziata hamlet of La Morra, in the 1960s, later adding parcels in prized crus like Arborina and Rocche dell'Annunziata.
Mauro Veglio took over young, when his father fell ill, and bet on Barolo at a time when Langhe wine brought little reward. His first harvest in the new winery, built by the Cascina Nuova farmhouse, came in 1992, and the La Morra vineyards were joined by holdings at Monforte d'Alba.
In 2017 Mauro and his wife Daniela merged the estate with that of their nephew Alessandro Veglio; the winery makes several single-vineyard Barolo crus.
