History
The Malabaila, a noble family from Asti, have been present in Canale since the 1200s, and the first record of a vineyard for wine here dates to 1362. In 1508 Count Daniele Malabaila bought the Pradvaj farm, with its vineyards, from the Roero counts.
From 1598 the Dukes of Savoy and the Prince of Piedmont sought Count Malabaila's wines for court celebrations, and in the 1700s the ambassador Luigi Gerolamo Malabaila exported them across Europe.
The estate has made Roero Arneis since 1985 and built a modern cellar at Cascina Pradvaj in 1990; it is run today by Lucrezia Carrega Malabaila with Valerio Falletti.
