History
The Swiss wine merchant Christoph Künzli and Alexander Tolf met the octogenarian grower Antonio Cerri, one of the last to make traditional Boca, in 1988.
Künzli moved to Piemonte in 1995 and took over Cerri's winery on his death in 1997, founding Le Piane; his first Boca was the 1999.
His Boca (about 70% Nebbiolo, 30% Vespolina) is credited with saving the appellation.
