History
Carlo Gancia studied sparkling-wine making in Reims and, back in Italy, founded the house in 1850, moving it to Canelli; in 1865 he made the first Italian metodo classico and the first sweet Moscato sparkler.
The house still makes the Asti Spumante and metodo-classico wines in the underground 'cathedrals' of Canelli.
