History

The Conterno family's Cascina Sciulun, a historic farmhouse in Bussia di Monforte d'Alba, was built in the mid-19th century and has always belonged to the family. Grandfather Pietro allocated 18 hectares to Nebbiolo, first selling grapes and later making wine.

The estate passed from Pietro to his son Giacomo and then to Franco Conterno, who in 1995 took the helm with his wife Vilma and gave the winery his own name; his sons Daniele and Andrea have since joined.

Franco Conterno now farms 28 hectares across Monforte, Barolo, Castiglione Falletto, Novello and Madonna di Como, and has been certified organic since 2015.
