History
Cascina Val del Prete was founded in 1977 by Bartolomeo and Carolina Roagna, who bought the Priocca estate after years as sharecroppers. The name recalls an abbot said to have lived here in exile around 1850.
From 1995 their son Mario Roagna and his wife Maria Carla took over and focused entirely on quality wine, and since 2013 the estate's roughly 10 hectares of Arneis, Barbera and Nebbiolo have been certified organic and farmed biodynamically.
Winemaking relies largely on indigenous yeasts and long macerations, producing Roero Arneis and Nebbiolo-based Roero reds.
