History

Cantina del Pino sits on the Ovello hill in Barbaresco, on a property the Vacca family bought in the 1920s from Domizio Cavazza, the pioneering agronomist who founded the first Barbaresco cooperative. A pine tree Cavazza planted at the top of the hill gives the estate its name.

After training at the Alba oenological school and spending five years at Produttori del Barbaresco, Renato Vacca started the family's own label in 1997 to pursue his own ideas in vineyard and cellar. Franca Vacca has been active in the estate since 2013.

The flagship is the Barbaresco from Ovello, alongside single-vineyard bottlings from Albesani and, occasionally, Gallina, and a Barbaresco blended from several sites.
