History
Ca' Viola was founded in 1991 by Beppe Caviola in his native Montelupo Albese, starting from a small rented Dolcetto vineyard called Barturot, with wine made in his parents' garage after his studies at the Alba oenology school.
Encouraged by the Barolo pioneer Elio Altare, he bottled the Dolcetto Barturot and then the Barbera Bric du Luv; he was named Winemaker of the Year in 2002. The winery later moved to Dogliani, where the family built the Villa Bracco relais.
From 2005 Ca' Viola added a Barolo from Nebbiolo at Novello, and today farms about 14 hectares between Montelupo Albese and Novello alongside Beppe's wide consulting work.
