History
Colonnara was founded at Cupramontana in 1959 by 19 farmers; today it is a cooperative of around 110 members.
With the Verdicchio DOC (1968) it explored the grape's ageing potential, and revived Cupramontana's sparkling tradition — first with the Charmat method, then Metodo Classico from the 1980s.
About a million bottles a year, nearly a quarter of them sparkling; the still 'Cuprese' is a flagship.
