History

Villa Franciacorta was founded in 1960 when the 26-year-old Alessandro Bianchi acquired land in the medieval hamlet of Villa, at Monticelli Brusati on the hills above Lake Iseo — one of the pioneering estates of Franciacorta.

Bianchi convinced colleagues to abandon Charmat-method sparkling for the bottle-fermented classic method, and from 1978 the estate made only estate-grown vintage (Millesimato) Franciacorta.

After Alessandro's death in 2020, the third generation of the Bianchi family carries on his rigorous vision of premium metodo classico rooted in the estate's terroir.
