History
Casa Vinicola Pietro Nera traces its wine business to Bernardo Nera in 1897; the estate developed strongly under Guido Nera from 1940, and his son Pietro took over in the late 1950s, building holdings of about 40 hectares.
Pietro acquired vineyards across the classic Valtellina Superiore crus — Sassella, Inferno, Grumello and Valgella; in 1982 his sons Stefano and Simone established the Caven Camuna farm.
Today Stefano Nera, an oenologist, directs the vineyards and cellar at Chiuro, one of Valtellina's most prestigious houses.
