History
Le Marchesine was founded in 1985 at Passirano, in Franciacorta, when Giovanni Biatta bought the first three hectares of vineyard, building on a family wine business over a century old.
The Biatta family's craft runs five generations deep, from Camillo Biatta, a négociant-éleveur, through his son Vittorio to Giovanni, who turned tradition into an estate.
Now led by Giovanni's son Loris with his children Andrea and Alice, the estate farms over 47 hectares and makes around 550,000 bottles of Franciacorta a year.
