History
The Verdi family have farmed the Oltrepò Pavese for seven generations, since Antonio Verdi came from Parma in the 18th century; the original farm grew wheat, corn and mulberries for silkworms alongside vines.
Luigi, of the third generation, was the first to make wine, but it was Bruno who, after the Second World War, first bottled at the estate under his own name — and Bruno Verdi wines were born.
Paolo Verdi, the seventh generation, now runs the estate from four plots around Canneto Pavese, making the flagship Buttafuoco 'Cavariola' and the Vergomberra metodo classico.
