Established in 1885 by Pietro Balgera, who began trading Valtellina wines into Switzerland via the Val Poschiavo.

His descendants Leone and Gianfranco expanded the house into both production and trade.

Paolo Balgera shaped the modern identity of the winery around the turn of the 21st century.

The fifth generation, brothers Luca and Matteo, are now active in the company.

Historic premises are in the centre of Chiuro at Villa Quadrio.
