History

1701 Franciacorta took shape in 2011, when Silvia and Federico Stefini acquired an agricultural property once belonging to the Conti Bettoni Cazzago, on the Santa Giulia hill at Cazzago San Martino, around the 18th-century Palazzo Cazzago.

The Stefini siblings, with friends, remade the estate on organic and biodynamic principles, gaining organic certification in 2015 and Demeter in 2016 — the first and only certified biodynamic producer in the Franciacorta DOCG.

The name '1701' refers to the first recorded vintage of the estate's historic Brolo vineyard.
