History
The cooperative was founded in 1973, the same year the Cinque Terre DOC was granted, under president Matteo Bonanini, uniting local growers to reclaim historic terraced vineyards and dry stone walls above the sea.
In 1982 it opened its modern winery at Groppo, in the comune of Riomaggiore, where 220 member-owners farming about 46 hectares still bring their grapes to be vinified under the Cantina Cinque Terre label.
