Cantine Litàn

History

Cantine Litan grew out of a project begun in 2000 to revive the abandoned 'Litan garden' vineyards on the steep slopes above Riomaggiore's Cala Canneto; the company was formally founded in 2006, named for grandfather Giulio.

Because the terraces are too steep for machinery, all work is done by hand; the estate is one of only four producers of the Slow Food Presidium Sciacchetra, and since 2010 has also sourced red-grape fruit from Val di Vara in the hills above the Cinque Terre.
