The family's wine roots go back to 1920, when Manlio Mergè sold bulk wine and oil in the Castelli Romani.

His grandson, the oenologist Felice Mergè, founded Azienda Agricola Poggio Le Volpi at Monte Porzio Catone in 1996.

It has grown into one of Lazio's most respected quality producers; the red 'Baccarossa' is a signature.
