History
When the Schettino family — the notary Antonio Schettino — bought a hundred-hectare masseria on a hill at Itri, above Sperlonga, at the end of the 1990s, they found a tiny old vineyard of native vines and set about reviving the ancient grapes of the area.
This is the country of Caecubum, the wine the ancient Romans prized above all others; on some twenty hectares farmed organically the estate makes a range of Lazio IGT wines — the native Abbuoto red, a 'Caecubum', the Vermentino 'Amyclano', the Fiano 'Odys' and the Falanghina 'Thymos'.
