History
Mario Macciocca - a former footballer and physics student turned winemaker - returned to the Piglio countryside his grandfather Giuseppe had farmed since 1945, in the Frosinone hills of southern Lazio.
He works about four hectares biodynamically on red volcanic clay of Monte Scalambra, some three planted to the native Cesanese and the rest to Passerina and a little Malvasia Puntinata.
His wines are the natural 'Monocromo' series - #1 a Passerina white, #2 a Cesanese red, #3 a rosato - grown in the heart of the Cesanese del Piglio DOCG.
