History
Colacicchi's fame rests on 'Torre Ercolana', created at Anagni in the mid-1940s by Luigi Colacicchi — a composer and ethnomusicologist — who, unusually for Lazio, planted Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot alongside the local Cesanese; the estate was formally established in 1950.
After Colacicchi's death in 1976 the estate was acquired in 1984 by the Trimani family, Roman wine merchants since 1821, who renovated the vineyards and cellar. Across some six hectares it still makes the celebrated Torre Ercolana, one of central Italy's rare and long-lived reds, with production revitalised from 2014.
