History

Casal Pilozzo is one of the oldest farms of the Castelli Romani, set on a volcanic hill at Monte Porzio Catone about 15 km southeast of Rome and owned by the Pulcini family. The estate takes its name from an ancient casale built over Roman remains that over the centuries hosted figures from noble Roman families to Orson Welles and Tyrone Power.

Brought into its modern form by Antonio Pulcini, born in 1941, the estate farms around thirteen hectares of vine and olive on volcanic ground and ages its wines in a tuff cave dug beneath the casale, held at a natural, constant 15 C. It is best known for 'Colle Gaio', a late-harvest Malvasia Frascati Superiore famous for ageing far longer than most wines of the appellation.
