History

The Attems family's presence in the Collio dates to 1106, with Ribolla Gialla and Refosco already recorded in the estate's ledgers of 1764; the house's story runs through the Patriarchate of Aquileia and the County of Gorizia, and in 1964 Count Douglas Attems founded the first Collio wine consortium.

Since 2000 the estate has belonged to the Frescobaldi family, who kept it focused on Collio whites — Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon and Ribolla — from terraced hillside vineyards around Lucinico and plots on the Isonzo plain. Attems is especially known for its Pinot Grigio Ramato, a coppery skin-contact style of the grape.
