Tenuta Mara

History

Tenuta Biodinamica Mara was created in 2000 by the entrepreneur Giordano Emendatori, who built the estate in the hills near San Clemente above Rimini and named it after his wife Mara. Seven hectares of vineyard were planted in 2005, given over entirely to Sangiovese, the grape best suited to quality in the Rimini hills.

The estate is farmed biodynamically, worked to the lunar and planetary calendar and dressed with plant- and animal-based preparations rather than fertilisers. Its flagship, the pure Sangiovese 'MaraMia', is made only in the best vintages.
