History

The Caparra name in Cirò goes back to Don Tuccio Caparra, grandfather of today's Salvatore, who in the 1950s was among the first to bottle and sell Cirò as a named wine rather than in bulk.

The estate is run today by the young Salvatore Caparra together with his father Nicodemo (trading as 'Salvatore Caparra Vini di Nicodemo Caparra'), farming about 10 hectares of native Greco Bianco and Gaglioppo in the heart of the Cirò DOC.

Vinification takes place in a cellar of roughly 1,400 hectolitres' capacity equipped with its own oenological laboratory.
